Crock Pot Venison Roast and Gravy
Nothing beats coming home to a hot meal waiting for you after a long day. Preparing this venison roast in the slow cooker makes a moist and tender roast complete with its own gravy. Even those who don’t care for venison will love this. This is so easy to put together in the morning that you can come home to a nice home cooked meal at the end of the day. Or, make it over the weekend for a delicious meal that is special enough for company.
Crock Pot Venison Roast and Gravy
3 pounds boneless venison roast
1 large onion, sliced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup (do not add water)
Approximately 6 servings
Rinse venison roast and pat dry. Place in crock pot and cover with sliced onion. Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and black pepper.
Mix together the onion soup mix and cream of mushroom soup. Pour over venison roast and cook on low for about 6 hours or until meat is tender and cooked through..
The gravy is delicious over mashed potatoes, egg noodles or rice. Round out the meal with a nice salad, hot vegetables and fresh sliced bread or dinner rolls.
For extra gravy use two cans of cream of mushroom soup. Adjust the spices to suit your family’s taste.
Make it healthier by using low fat/low sodium cream of mushroom soup. Cut back further on sodium by reducing the amount of dry onion soup mix. You can also leave out the soy sauce or use lower sodium soy sauce.
For a hearty one dish meal you can add any of the following: baby carrots or sliced carrots, cleaned and quartered red potatoes, celery and sliced mushrooms.
